I ATTENDED MY HUSBAND’S OFFICE PARTY FOR THE FIRST TIME JUST TO SEE HIS OTHER “WIFE” THERE – HE GOT WHAT HE DESERVED LATER.
Recently, my husband and I were watching a movie on his laptop when he left for the bathroom, and the next moment, an email popped up:
“Dear Mr. Philips, We are happy to announce that the New Year party is coming up! Dress code: White Party. You may bring your plus-one (your wife).
Address…”
OMG, finally! His company NEVER sent him invitations allowing a plus-one. But as the New Year approached, he remained silent. When I asked about the party, he said he’d be working. Well, okay. But this time, I decided to check it out myself—after all, I was on the list! So, I arrived dressed all in white on the specified date and place. At the reception:
Manager: “Your name, please?”
Me: “I’m J. Philips, O. Philips’ wife.”
Manager (laughed): “Nice try!”
Me: “Pardon?”
Manager: “Mr. Philips is already inside with his REAL wife.”
Then he pointed to my husband, kissing…another woman. Like, what the heck?!
Manager: “I see the real J. Philips more often than you, sooo…”
And that was it. I was already planning my revenge when karma hit him faster than I could have imagined as the next morning, I got a call.
The next morning, my phone buzzed, and when I picked up, a panicked voice rushed through the receiver.
“Mrs. Philips? This is Mr. Harris from Oliver’s office. I think you should come in. There’s been… a situation.”
A situation? My mind raced. Had Oliver gotten caught? Was he finally facing the consequences of his double life?
“I’ll be there in 20 minutes,” I said, grabbing my coat.
When I arrived at the office, I expected tension, maybe even whispers, but nothing could have prepared me for what I saw.
Oliver stood at the front of the conference room, looking pale and sweaty, while his “real wife”—a stunning brunette I had never seen before—was crying hysterically.
The CEO sat at the head of the table, looking furious. He turned to me.
“Mrs. Philips, I assume?”
I nodded, glaring at Oliver.
The CEO sighed. “We have a serious problem. It seems your husband has been lying… to all of us.”
Then he handed me a folder. Inside were HR documents, insurance records, and company benefits…
With two names listed under Spouse: Mine and hers.
Oliver had been claiming two wives. Two insurance policies. Two addresses. Two different life stories.
I let out a dry laugh. “Wow, Oliver. So you weren’t just cheating—you were committing FRAUD?”
The CEO folded his hands. “This company has a zero-tolerance policy for dishonesty. Oliver, consider yourself terminated, effective immediately. We’ll also be launching an investigation into your fraudulent claims.”
Oliver turned to me, his face drained of all color. “Honey, please—”
But before he could finish, security entered the room.
I stepped forward, looking him dead in the eye. “Happy New Year, dear. Hope your real wife bails you out.”
With that, I walked out, head held high, leaving him to face the mess he created.
And let’s just say, my New Year’s Eve celebration that night? It was legendary.
